Hello!
I went on my first Goodwill hunt a few weekends ago with my best girlfriend, and I am officially hooked to thrifting! If you know me at all, you will know that I have always refused Goodwill for the simple fact I hate digging when I shop. My first hunt was such a success that I have changed my mind, and I am now on the hunt for all the trendy steals! I found 2 pairs of "mom jeans" to DIY. Here is how I have 90's inspired jean shorts for just $7.00 that compare to designer styles. My second pair are still under construction .... coming soon.

Step by Step:
Wash your jeans
Try them on as they are
Mark your length with chalk, marker, sewing pencil, or whatever else works while still wearing the jeans. (remember to go longer at first - you can always take away more)
Remove the jeans for the fun part!
Grab your measuring tape or ruler & scissors
Measure the length of your first mark, and make the same mark on the other leg
Cut off the jeans at your marks (cut the first leg and fold the jeans and make sure the cut lines up with your other mark before the second cut)
Try on the shorts as they are
Make your style choice here - I decided to cuff mine for now
Style options:
Leave them raw cut - simply wash and dry to let naturally distress or pick at the cut with tweezers for a more destroyed look
Cuff the bottom - you will want to keep the cut longer for room to cuff & iron fold after cuffing for a clean line
Re-cut taking off some length at an angle for a more dramatic cut off look & throw in the dryer to make the edge more distressed or pick at the cut with tweezers for immediate destroyed results
DIY distressed jeans coming soon.
